As a community credit union, we believe strongly in the power of education and lifelong learning. Our Scholarship Program is designed to support individuals at various stages of their educational journey who demonstrate a commitment to continuing their education or advancing their careers.
Michigan United Credit Union is awarding four (4) $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors. Student must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Please include the following items with your completed application online:
- Two letters of personal reference (non-family)
- A 400 to 600 word essay indicating why you should be a recipient of this scholarship (see below)
- High school transcript
- Letter of acceptance into a community college, university, vocational school, an accredited institution, or trade school.
- Resume outlining both academic achievements and employment history (if any)
Michigan United Credit Union will award four (4) $1,000 scholarships, one scholarship in each category, for a total of $4,000 in scholarship funding.

Applicants must be a member in good standing with Michigan United Credit Union as of December 31, 2025.
Scholarship Categories & Requirements
Category #1: High School Graduate – College-boundÂ
Applicants must submit:
- Scholarship Application
- Two letters of personal reference (non-family)
- Essay (400–600 words) — see below for essay requirements
- Resume outlining academic achievements and employment history (if any)
- High school transcript
- Letter of acceptance into a community college or university
Category #2: High School Graduate – Trade School-boundÂ
Applicants must submit:

- Proof of application
Category #3: Continuing Education / Career AdvancementÂ
Applicants must submit:
- Scholarship Application
- Two letters of personal reference (non-family)
- Essay (400–600 words) — see below for essay requirements
- Resume outlining academic achievements and employment history (if any)
- Proof of enrollment
Category #4: Current Student – Mid-ProgramÂ
Applicants must submit:

Essay
A 400 to 600 word essay indicating why you should be the recipient of this scholarship.
When completing the essay, applicants should follow these guidelines:
-The essay must be typed.
-The essay must be grammatically correct and free of errors.
-The essay should demonstrate an enthusiasm for higher learning, with commitment to furthering your education.
Scholarship Terms & Conditions
Selection will be made without regard to applicant’s race, color, ethnic origin, religious beliefs, sex, marital status, or physical ability. The applicant must be a high school senior graduating in 2026, current students currently enrolled in a college/university or trade school, or individuals currently in the workforce that are pursuing a degree, certification, or career transition training. Applicants must be a member in good standing with Michigan United Credit Union as of December 31, 2025. Applications must be submitted through the form on the Michigan United Credit Union website no later than Friday, May 1, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.  Late applications will not be accepted. Incomplete applications will not be considered. The applicant agrees to accept the decisions of Michigan United Credit Union as final. Michigan United Credit Union employees, board members, and their immediate family members are eligible to apply for the scholarship program. Michigan United Credit Union reserves the right to disqualify applicants who make any misrepresentations on their application or supporting documents. All applications and supporting documents will be kept confidential, become the property of the credit union, and will not be returned.
By signing this application, I hereby authorize Michigan United Credit Union to photograph me and consent to the use of my likeness in all publications, educational materials, research, advertising, new media, video and Web materials. I understand and agree that such materials shall become and remain the sole property of Michigan United Credit Union. If the applicant is a minor, consent must be agreed to in writing by a parent or legal guardian.

The scholarship recipient will be notified no later than May 15, 2026. This scholarship is available for tuition, books, and fees. At Michigan United Credit Union’s discretion, the scholarship will be paid directly to the educational institution the student is attending. The awards will be paid upon receiving a bill or invoice. Checks are made payable to the school the recipient is attending and will be mailed directly to the school to be applied to the recipient’s account. If the recipient does not attend as expected, funds should be promptly returned.
